What Nuggets is
Nuggets is a local-first document reader with optional Book AI. This page describes current 1.0 practice.
On your device
Your Library (PDF files you add) and Highlights stay on the device. Add to library copies the file into the app sandbox. It does not upload the file.
Nuggets Cloud (optional Index)
If you choose Index this book, Nuggets uploads that file to Nuggets Cloud so we can build Book context for Book AI. The file is stored with our Cloud indexing service and object storage. A guest still has a server user id.
Book AI
Ask, Explain, and Summary send your question and Book context to the Nuggets Backend and to DeepSeek. Book AI is not fully offline. Do not treat it as a private on-device model.
Account
1.0 creates a guest account on first launch so Index and Book AI can run. You can Delete Account in the app. That wipes Nuggets Cloud data for that guest (indexed books and Book AI). PDFs and Highlights on the phone stay unless you delete them yourself.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, we may send a report to Sentry. Reports may include a user id. They must not include PDF text, Highlight text, Ask or Explain prompts, Book context, or auth tokens.
